BiblePro: Free Powerful Bible Software
I am always on the lookout for downloads and free services that will aid my Bible study time. I have tried several online resources for Bible text, commentaries and dictionaries and recently came across BiblePro from Bible Ocean. I have to say this is my new favorite for the amount of information, the layout, and ease of use.
This screen shot was taken from my computer after entering the search term “Mary.” Click to view the full image, and you will see the features of the software. On the top left is the list of books of the Bible, expandable to view the chapter numbers. In the center is the Bible text with the choice of translations; the top right is the search results that appeared after typing “Mary” into the search box. The bottom left shows the references/dictionaries available, and the bottom right shows the notes/commentaries section. You can choose to view a commentary, then enter your own notes on the passage or chapter.
The layout is great because you have all the information you need available on one screen. You don’t have to keep multiple windows open or switch between desktop and online resources like a lot of the other free Bible software. There is a cd available for just the cost of shipping and handling that contains a myriad of other plugins and features, plus clip art, other Bible translations, commentaries and resources.
Other cd’s are available for $5.00 each that contain an interfaith study help, teen version, high-quality photographs of the Holy Land, and maps. Sign up for daily e-mails to receive morning and evening reading lists, commentary, or stories of Jesus. The free BiblePro Web Version also contains features of the cd accessible online.
BiblePro from Bible Ocean is the most powerful tool I have come across yet to help with my Bible study and preparing my writing. The export feature allows you insert text straight from the software into a Word document, PDF, or HTML format, saving a lot of time in copying and pasting and then having to reformat. Download BiblePro and give it a try. I highly recommend it for anyone studying the Bible whether a clergy member, teacher, or average church-goer.
