Crazy!

I have started reading a book that I would love to recommend. After only a few chapters, this book has touched me and helped me focus my heart on the Lord.

First, let me give credit for my discovering of this book to Amrita, who writes a wonderful Christian blog, at yesugarden.blogspot.com (click HERE to visit the site). Amrita lives and writes in her home country of India, and her passion and love for God is amazing. Her writing blesses me, and I know it will bless you, as well.

As for the book, it is entitled Crazy Love, and was written by Francis Chan. He is the pastor of Cornerstone Church in Simi Valley, California. According to his bio on the website CrazyLoveBook.com, he also founded Eternity Bible College and is on the board of Children’s Hunger Fund and World Impact.

As we have discussed many times, One Hour Worshipers aren’t getting the most out of their faith. It isn’t enough to show up, pray and sing, then head back out into the real world. As Chan states in his book, we just “aren’t getting it.”

Chan’s answer? We need to fall in love with God. Not just love Him, but crazy love Him. In fact, the subtitle of the book is Overwhelmed by a Relentless God.

As I looked through the book, some of the chapters made me a bit nervous. But as I began reading, I got it. The first chapter is entitled: Stop Praying. That caught my attention! But as Chan explains, we are so busy talking AT God, that we rarely pay attention to what we are saying to Him! Chan reminds us that “Solomon warned us not to rush into God’s presence with words. That’s what fools do.” Instead, he suggests, we need to stand in awe of Him, allow ourselves to be amazed by His holiness, His omnipotence. Him.

God.

Check the book out. Visit the website CrazyLoveBook.com, where you can see chapter videos, read the first chapter online, and get a great overview of the whole book.

It will be worth your time. In fact, isn’t anything that draws you closer to God worth the time?

About Life as a Christian Woman

Life as a Christian Woman explores Biblical truths as they apply to modern faith and the vital roles we can play in the body of Christ. Some topics are easy, such as Christ died for our sins. Others, like divorce, single parenthood, work, and submission to our spouses are more challenging. Then there are days we just need a good laugh with God. Together, we can learn practical faith in an impractical world.
