Discovering Your Personal Ministry
All Believers are called to ministry. We cannot all be pastors or priests, but as followers of Jesus Christ, we have a mission to serve others in His name. Our Lord grants each of us with gifts and talents. These gifts are vital to His kingdom, and we must make an effort to discover our God-given gifts and use them. I have written briefly before about my own personal ministry in God Given Gifts: Did He Forget Something?. After hearing Pastor Gary’s sermon on the subject Sunday, I decided to dedicate this week to helping you discover your gifts and how to use them for the Kingdom of God.
Perhaps you already know what your gifts are. Maybe you spend 20 hours a week teaching children in church or leading Bible studies or speaking to different groups. Churches could not operate without people like you who are gifted with speaking and leading others. But what about the rest of the Believers who fear getting up in front of people, or who are newly saved and do not have the Biblical knowledge to teach? How can these people minister to others? How can a woman have a ministry when her church doesn’t allow women to lead?
In 1 Peter 4:10 we read: “Each of us should use whatever gift he’s received to serve others.” The smallest acts can minister to others if we perform them with heart of service. Over the next few days, we will talk about the different ways we can serve others. Whether you are a single mother of 3 or a businesswoman with a successful career or a disabled person who doesn’t leave home much, you have something to offer for the Kingdom of God.
I am giving you a homework assignment for today. Think about what your passions, talents, and interests are. Write down things you can do that might help someone else. Do you feel a particular urging, or call from God, to perform certain activities? I have included the text of Pastor Daniel’s sermon, “Little Things Mean A Lot,” for you to read and understand what the Bible tells us about serving God. Then come back tomorrow as we begin to discuss the ways you can minister, from the seemingly insignificant to the grand.

Hello!
I know I have a personal ministry with God and have been trying to cultivate it so that others can be brought closer to him through paintings that either send a spiritual message or relate directly to a Biblical verse. I keep looking through the internet to see if I find other women artists that feel the passion and vocation to paint as a Ministry. I currently work full-time in a non-art related job, but try to use every moment I can to flourish my vocation and ministry. I think it’s very important to know what your talent is and then keep focused. I know God will provide me with a time and place where I can be a full-time artist. Until them I will keep climbing the mountain and proclaim God’s word through my art.
