Job Search and Support for Christian Women
While some churches continue to debate whether women should work, the reality is that a large percentage of Christian women do have jobs or are searching for jobs. Maybe your husband’s income isn’t enough, or maybe you are a Christian single mother trying to support your family alone. Whatever your case, there are job search programs and support for working Christian women.
JOB SEARCH
ChristianJobs.com is an online job board that allows you to post a resume and search through ads for job openings. There is special section for work-at-home jobs, and a career tools page with support for Christian workers.
ChristiaNet is also a job board that features listings for job openings in churches, education, ministry, house parents, work-at-home, and even volunteer opportunities. They also have a job personality test that will help you determine the types of work you are most suited for.
The Crosswebs Directory has a listing of Christian job resources, as well as message boards, forums, and special women’s section.
The Crosswalk Directory has a “jobs and business opportunities” section that features sponsored listings, most popular listings, and then an alphabetical directory of resources.
JOB SUPPORT
The Christian Working Woman is a daily radio broadcast designed to “equip and encourage Christians in the workplace.” Transcripts of the broadcasts are available on the website, and you can also sign up to have them e-mailed to you each day.
The Christian Business Women’s Fellowship was founded to “provide assistance and encouragement for all business women through Forums, Bible studies, outreach luncheons, mentoring, etc.”
International Christian Women Entrepreneurs offers support for everything from self-employed work-at-home moms to large corporate owners. There is a yearly fee for membership, but the benefits may outweigh the cost through programs such as access to 401k retirement plans and health insurance.
If you just want to be able to talk other working Christian women and get advice or vent about a bad day, consider joining or starting a Christian women’s job support group on a provider such as AOL or Yahoo. These types of groups offer access to other Christian women’s experiences without the organized feel of sponsored sites.
Whatever your plans for your career are, having the support of a Christian environment can make your work life a lot easier and less stressful.
