More Music Month Continues…

Yes, I know. This will be the third post in a row featuring music. I can’t help myself, though. Lately I have been immersing myself in Christian music, and their is so much wonderful music to choose from. Uplifting, encouraging, dramatic, faith-confirming. It’s all there. So bear with me, and my prayer is that others can enjoy these posts as much as I am enjoying writing them and listening to the music that goes with them.
Today I am featuring a song I stumbled across last night. The title of the song is “I’m Amazed” and the lyrics express an amazement that God could love such a sinner, that we are free of our sins through His priceless love.
Look at the chorus:
I’m amazed that You love me
I’m amazed how You care
Through Your precious blood
I’ve found pardon
And my sins are washed,
They’re all washed away
All my sins are washed away
Pretty much sums it up, huh?
Think about it. Our perfect, sinless Father, omnipotent and omniscient, sent His perfect son, without sin or blemish, to give His life to atone for our sinful nature.
Amazing…
I think it’s one of the reasons many struggle with Christianity. To become a Christian is to admit total sin, to acknowledge that without God, we are nothing and doomed to an eternity in Hell. And we, in our prideful way, don’t like to admit that we need anybody!
But we do. The first verse even addresses this:
“I laughed and said my life was fine without you.”
We’ve all done it at one point or another. And yet we need God more than we need food or water.
And He loves us through our denials (just ask Peter!), He loves us through our selfishness and sinfulness.
Once again, amazing.

I’m Amazed
No one knew how alone I was feeling
And the emptiness I tried so hard to hide
Though I laughed and said my life was fine without You,
I was covering up the secret tears I cried.
Then one day someone told me of Your mercy,
And the love You showed on a hill called Calvary.
There you died and purchased my redemption
When you broke sin’s power and set my spirit free!
I’m amazed that You love me.
I’m amazed how You care.
Through Your precious blood
I’ve found pardon.
And my sins are washed,
They’re all washed away.
All my sins are washed away
It’s true there have been days when I’ve failed You.
Lord, You know the many times I’ve gone astray.
But I’ve learned that Your love is stronger than my weakness,
And you ear is open every time I pray.
No one else has ever cared for me like You, Lord.
Other friends could never be as close to me.
I’m not afraid to face the problems of tomorrow
Knowing You are everything I’ll ever need.
I’m amazed that You love me.
I’m amazed how You care.
Through Your precious blood
I’ve found pardon.
And my sins are washed,
They’re all washed away.
All my sins are washed away.
