Prayer List: Current Events
Maybe it is just the particular news I have been watching recently, but the world seems to have taken a nose dive. Well, more so than usual, anyway. Maybe this is the week we need to just pray for everybody and everything. “Lord, I don’t know what’s up, but please fix it.”
Finland made the news for a high school shooting. Come on, Finland?? When was the last time you remember Finland making world news unless it had something to do with sports or an accomplishment?
56 children were bombed in Afghanistan. Yes, bombings happen every day in that part of the world thanks to the war. But bombing children is more tragic than usual.
Pakistan declared a state of emergency over political unrest. Thousands have been arrested, television stations are off the air, and people are losing jobs and freedom over voicing their opinions.
The US is on the list of worst places in the world for infant death rates. A reporter caused the French President to walk out on an interview after badgering him about his unstable marriage. The writers are on strike and the public is balking because they may have to watch reruns. A teacher and her student-turned-lover ran off to Mexico setting off an international manhunt. Yay for America!
California burned. Mexico, Vietnam, Haiti, and other areas flooded. Antarctica continued to melt, and volcanoes and earthquakes continued to erupt.
And these are just the front page news stories.
Debates can rage over whether we are in the End Times and all these things are a part of it. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t pray. So when you attend church on Sunday, or Saturday night if that is your worship time, or you talk to God tomorrow, pray for the world. No particular area, no particular group of people; just everything and everyone. And pray for some good news.
Oh, be sure to read about the pro-pornography minister. He just fits right in this week.
