Presenting the Gospel

Yesterday we talked about how to give your testimony (Your Testimony, Your Path). Today, I would like to follow that up with how to present the Gospel.
You’ll recall that when we give our testimony, it needs to be from the heart, presented with honesty and sincerety. The same can be said for presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ. We need to be honest and sincere. We need to present the words with love.
The book of Acts gives us a roadmap that we can follow. In chapter 3, we see Peter and John tell a lame beggar that they have no money, but what Peter does have is better, and he commands the man to walk. Peter cared about the man and wanted to see him come to Christ Jesus.
When others saw the miracle that had just occurred, they came running. But Peter asked them in verse 12 why they were surprised. He accuses them of turning Jesus, the Messiah, over to be crucified. In this instance, Peter showed courage as he spoke to the throngs.
In verse 16, Peter lets the crowd know that it was not he or John that healed the lame beggar, but Jesus working through them. They presented the story of Jesus with confidence and assurance in the message.
Finally, Peter provided the content to allow the listeners to put the pieces together. He told them that Jesus had fulfilled the prophecy set forth in the Old Testament. He cited Moses, Samuel and Abraham. And he begged them to turn from their ways and accept Christ as the one true savior.
In short, present the gospel with caring and compassion, be courageous in your presentation, be confident in your message, and be sure of your content, of your faith.
