Smoker’s Redemption
We all sin. We all have fallen short of the glory of the Lord. And we all continue to sin in our own ways. My sin is that I am a smoker. I have heard people debate whether this really is a sin, but the answer is clear — yes, it is. It is also a terrible addiction that continues to grip lives and take lives every day.
It should be easy to pray, put down the cigarettes, and never smoke again. Believe me, I have tried it. I have prayed to quit more than any other thing. But I have also failed at it more than any other thing. When the withdrawal symptoms kick in, and the headache and nausea and dizziness and anger take hold, I lose my will to pray.
Please visit Smoker’s Redemption to continue following my progress.

I hope God blesses your life as you’ve blessed mine April.
I will keep you in my prayers and you just keep the faith that God will deliver you from those cancer sticks!

April, praying for your healing. Thanks for considering our book Mama Peavy says, “Women, It’s OK to Marry an Ugly Man” by Mary R. Butler. But it would have been great conversation to talk about what we consider beauty and what God considers beauty! Thanks again!

Best of luck with the attempt to stop smoking. It is a hard battle to win, and took me three tries to quit for good. Declaring it a “sin” and asking readers to foot the bill for your redemption is too much. MySpace might be a better venue for you to solicate “donations.”

Thank you for you comments. Actually, Shelby pointed out something that I neglected to include in my post. Only 1/2 of the money for the smoking cessation program will come from readers. I apologize for leaving that out in the post.

I just found your blog by a strange google search because of what someone said to me at church today! (about cussing and Peter)
We have a lot in common. I too am a Christian woman who regularly prays to be forgiven for swearing.
I smoked for about 32 years. I prayed for God to SCARE me without really making me sick! lol.
He did Scare me and so far I am not really sick!! I quit. It’s almost 2 years now.
The early part of my quit was AWFUL! I also gained a lot of weight.
I will pray for you. I do however think it’s important for you to *pay* for your quit. Anti smoking stuff still costs less than cigarettes. At least in the long run. Do whatever it takes. Commit yourself to a quit and accept that you do not smoke any more.
