Televangelist Juanita Bynum Assaulted by Husband

by

For an update on Juanita Bynum, see the post “Celebrate Christmas with Juanita Bynum.”

Atlanta police have reported that Juanita Bynum and her preacher husband had an altercation in a hotel parking lot. She was battered and bruised, with bruising around her neck and upper torso.

Dr. Bynum is a well known televangelist, coference speaker, and gospel singer. Her Women On the Front Line conferences draw participants from around the United States. Dr. Bynum has traveled the world preaching God’s Word. Her ministries include books, music, speaking engagements, videos, mentorship programs, and many others.

With several events at Life as a Christian Woman focusing on Christian women and domestic violence, this story only reiterates how important this issue is. My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to Dr. Bynum during this trying time. She needs our spiritual strength and uplifting and our respect. I sincerely hope she realizes she does not have to deal with this alone, as so many battered women believe. I pray the Lord will guide her to take the hands that are reaching out to her.

Christine, I think a lot of people feel the same way. I will try to update as I can on Dr. Bynum’s recovery and return to her ministry. The circumstances, rumors, reasons, or whatever are not my concern. I just want her to know that she is not alone, and that many women may find their own strength to deal with a similar situation from seeing how she handles it.

Let’s not forget that the one who has departed from the path is often the most in need of prayers. After many years of representing victims of domestic violence in divorce proceedings, obtaining restraining orders, etc., I know only too well how easy it is to hate the aggressor–but we’re not called to take sides, but to work and pray toward the good of EVERYONE concerned, whatever our personal feelings might be.

Ya know I dont get off on blogging and rarely say anything. But speaking as a PI, Mr weaks said he never touched her. The only thing we have to go on is media hperactivity.
Did he really do it? Let the investigation
its course and see. If he did Ive got no
sympathy for the guy. A man should never
lay his hands on a woman like that. On the
other hand none of us were there, anybody
ever talk to the bellboy? Maybe she gave the
guy 5 g’s to rough her up some? Not a bad
paycheck for a guy with an 8 dollar an hour
job. What this lady aint that dirty? Well,
she used the whole scenerio to beg for a
couple hundred thousand did she not? What
she ment to say is that Id rather not pay for
my own divorce, Id just as soon let you.
Jesus himself prayed in a garden, on rock
and in the wilderness. Yet this woman needs
a $200,000 floor before she can approach the
Father? What is she closer to the Father
than Jesus was? Found more favor?
    PlEaSE…………………………..

About Life as a Christian Woman

Life as a Christian Woman explores Biblical truths as they apply to modern faith and the vital roles we can play in the body of Christ. Some topics are easy, such as Christ died for our sins. Others, like divorce, single parenthood, work, and submission to our spouses are more challenging. Then there are days we just need a good laugh with God. Together, we can learn practical faith in an impractical world.
